I am a self-taught artist who enjoys working in a variety of different artistic mediums. My educational background is in animal biology and I have a Master’s degree that focused on animal behaviour. The study of animals has influenced the subject matter of much of my artist work. I presently live on the shore of Lake Opinicon in Eastern Ontario where nature abounds. I grew up in Ontario but have also lived in Illinois for many years, where I belonged to the Illinois Prairie Chapter of the Guild of Natural History Illustrators and participated in numerous art exhibits. Natural history illustration allows an artist to combine their interest in art, science and the environment. The work is often highly detailed with an emphasis on realism. Since moving back to Ontario I have joined the Rideau Lakes Artist Association and have expanded my artistic pursuits to include more impressionistic landscapes as well as more whimsical creations. In my art I try to capture the sense of wonder I have in the natural world.

I have recently added wood working to repertoire. Together with a couple of friends, we have formed LKL creations, specializing in charcuterie boards. All LKL wood creations are one of a kind. Each image is carefully selected and routed by hand prior to being poured with a custom tinted  resin. Each item is then sanded, finished with a food safe oil and buffed to a perfect finish.
